Disabled grandmother head-butts mugger

An heroic disabled grandmother bravely fought off three muggers who tipped her out of her mobility scooter – by HEAD-BUTTING one of the culprits.

The brave victim was trundling home from a fish and chop shop when she was confronted by a gang of hooded thugs.

They pushed her over and she desperately clung onto her handbag as they kicked her and tried to rip it from her grasp.

But as one of the yobs knelt down to steal the bag – which only contained her purse with a few pounds in – she headbutted him.

The cowardly youth howled in pain before running off with a bloody nose.

The 49-year-old victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, had just visited the Whiddon Fryer in Barnstaple, Devon, when the yobs attacked her.

She said: ”I had noticed the gang earlier but I ignored them, even though I heard one of them make a comment about my scooter.

”It wasn’t until I was making my way home that the three of them appeared out of the trees and tipped me over before kicking me.

”One then tried to grab my bag but I head-butted him.”

The woman suffered injuries to her head and stomach and was admitted to North Devon District Hospital with internal bleeding.

Her scooter is also damaged beyond repair, meaning the victim – who has 24 grandchildren – has now lost her independence.

She added: ”I only got the scooter last May and it has enabled me to be able to go to the shops.

”But now I have to rely on others constantly. I feel as though I am the criminal, as I am confined to my home. If I do go out I now make sure I am back by 4pm.

”I am currently saving for a new scooter as I won’t accept hand outs. I believe in working for what you have got. But I’m apprehensive that I won’t feel safe using it.”

The mugger is described as white, about 5ft 8 inches and aged between 18 and 20 years.

He and his two accomplices were all wearing hoodies.

The way things are these days, she’ll probably be charged with assault or GBH.

Another sign of the times, reading the article I get the impression her disability is being fat, chips were one of her 5 a day & she’ll live in a council estate on disability benefit which has funded her hundreds of offspring at our expense. I could be wrong, but probably not.
