Men arrested for wrestling with python outside McDonald’s

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Two men have been arrested outside an Australian fast food store – for wrestling with a stolen python named Boris.

Amazed onlookers watched as the unnamed men, aged 22 and 24, grappled with the 4.5ft black headed python outside the McDonald’s in Victoria.

Police were called and the two men were arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft.

Pythons: not to be wrestled with

It is alleged the two men broke into a nearby pet shop on Wednesday morning where they stole the snake and a monitor lizard.

The lizard, which is still missing, was placed in a pillow case but the python had to be carried out of the shop.

Police described Boris as ”not happy” when they arrived at the surreal scene.

After placing the python in a container, they transported him to Heidelberg police station with the stolen snake later returned to the owner of Totally Reptiles, Jodie Graham.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Beams said: ”Anyone who gets out there with a one-and-a-half meter python in a McDonald’s car park – they’re pretty dumb.”

The non-venomous black headed python is native to Australia and can grow up to 12ft long.
