Police were called after a two-year-old boy was found all alone wandering the streets walking his dog – a 5am.

The toddler wearing only his pyjamas was spotted by a bread delivery man near a branch of Sainsbury’s.

There were no adults nearby and only a dog believed to be the boy’s family pet.

The delivery driver took the boy and his dog to the supermarket and left him in the hands of staff working the overnight shift.

But being so young the child was unable to tell staff his name or where he lives following the incident in Falmouth, Cornwall, on Saturday.

A supermarket staff member said: “It was a bit of a shock to see this little boy. I made sure he was OK and then called the police.”

The police confirmed the toddler had been found out alone, but said officers had “no initial concerns” about the incident.

He added that the child had been reunited with his family just before 6am.

A police spokesman added: “The little boy has a habit of wandering, he has done so before.

“From our point of view, we have submitted a referral, a multi-agency referral, in case there are any issues but officers were happy that there are no real causes for concern.

“It’s not common, but it isn’t unusual. We do get children that do want to explore the world. He is all safe and well. Staff did the right thing.”
