The 5th British Accountancy Awards have now taken place and Wisteria has been announced a winner of the “Community Award” as a result of their outstanding work with a local charity Choices 4 all.

Nearly 700 guests attended the awards, with regional and national firms recognised for the efforts during the past 12 months.

The British Accountancy Awards are highly respected within the accountancy sector and demonstrate Wisteria’s excellent reputation within the industry.

Winning the Community Award highlights the company’s commitment to social responsibility and in developing strong local relationships in the community.

Established 13 years ago, Wisteria is a small firm of Chartered Accountants, tax and business advisers based in Pinner, NW London.

They have over 500 clients ranging from small and medium sized companies to individuals and partnerships. Their clients are not only from the London area but across the UK and internationally.

Through knowledge and extensive practical experience, Wisteria has developed a number of sector specialisms including advising and providing a complete accountancy and tax solution to businesses in the lending, bio-tech, e-commerce, digital media and technology industries.

Choices 4 All is a non-profit-making organisation which encourages individuals with disabilities and learning difficulties to progress via skills training, a job club and work placements.

Wisteria have been pleased to work with Choices 4 All and have devoted over 200 hours of free staff time to Choices 4 All, advising them on how to make their business more cost-effective and helping them to reduce their running costs.

Over the past year, 11 employees at Wisteria have worked directly with Choices 4 all. Wisteria have been involved in a number of areas including assisting the charity to find new offices and leading the negotiations with the new landlords to secure a 50% reduction in rental costs as well as assisting with the reorganisation of the Board of Trustees.

In addition, following the implementation of the ‘Gift Aid’ system recommended by Wisteria’s Tax team, Choices 4 All maximised the income they receive from donations.

As a result of Wisteria’s outstanding performance and support, Choices 4 All have been able to invest significantly in their core-business – helping more local people overcome their disabilities and to integrate into their communities.

The director and founder of Wisteria, Andrew Millet, was extremely pleased winning the award and said “At Wisteria, we decided a number of years ago to make a commitment to help our local community.

This has been great for our business, our staff and the charity. Winning the Community Award is great recognition for the time and hard work everyone has put into this project.”

The British Accountancy Award ceremony took place on November 24th, at the London Brewery.
