Cheryl Cole’s blood group diet slammed by medical experts

Many of us will soon be looking to shed the extra pounds that festive over-indulgence brings, but experts from the British Dietetic Association (BDA) have named five celebrity diets you’re best off avoiding.

The blood group diet, which sparked a flurry of interest this year when Cheryl Cole was revealed to be a fan, has been dismissed by the BDA as ‘pseudo science’. The diet, in which followers cut out certain food groups depending on their blood type, can also cause nutrient deficiency.

Naomi Campbell’s maple syrup diet, which involves drinking maple syrup mixed with lemon juice and cayenne pepper, was described as ‘dangerous and boring’ with ‘no nutritional value.’ And the cabbage soup diet, as followed by Buffy the Vampire Slayer Sarah Michelle Geller, is not only nutritionally deficient but will cause you to fart all day too!

Followers of the baby food diet, as favoured by Jennifer Aniston, were advised to reach for a carrot or apple instead, and Katherine Jenkins’ complicated Dukan Diet is condemned as having ‘no solid science behind it’ as well as causing pongy breath.

Sian Porter, spokesperson for the BDA, said: “There is no wonder diet you can follow without some nutritional or health risk and most are offering a short-term fix to a long-term problem.

“It may be obvious, but if you want to lose weight you need to eat a nutritionally balanced and varied diet with appropriate portions and burn off more calories than you consume.”

as one of the most popular and influence people on tv, young people hook onto and follow every word that falls out of Cheryl’s mouth.
if unwatched, this kind of behaviour can be dangerous for millions of young people live by ‘celebrity culture’, and their lifestyles, as portrayed in the media.
