A coxswain captured the hilarious moment a seal decided to spend the night relaxing in his rubber dinghy.

Jon Harvey, 27, had just moored his yacht after he had been out sailing when he heard a loud splashing noise.

He then witnessed the seal clamber onto the inflatable dinghy which was attached to his yacht at around 11.30pm last Wednesday (21/12).

And when Jon returned the following morning the seal, which he named Cyril, was still there.

Jon, who has volunteered for the Felixstowe Volunteer Coast Patrol Rescue Service since he was 14, snapped a couple of shots before the marine mammal set off.

He captured the images at around 8.30am on Thursday morning near to Pin Mill on the River Orwell in Suffolk.

Jon, from Ipswich, Suffolk, said: “I had been out sailing on Wednesday and moored my yacht near to Pin Mill.

“Late in the evening I heard a loud splashing noise and was amazed when I saw the seal getting into my dinghy.

“It was clearly very comfortable laying across the bench seat, and was still there the next morning.

“It was incredible to watch and I feel really lucky to have witnessed it.”

Jon said he sees seals quite often while he is out on the water but had never witnessed anything like this before.
