Police arrested a suspected drug producer after they searched his home and found cannabis leaves – hanging on a WASHING LINE.

Undercover officers made the surprising discovery while carrying out a warrant at the property in Shirley, West Mids., on April 19.

They searched the house after a man walked out of the front door straight into their path. When he was searched he was found to be carrying cannabis.

This allowed officers to check inside the house – where they found more of the drugs hanging from an improvised washing line.

There was also more cannabis discovered growing in another room.

Pictures taken inside the house shows a row of green leaves hanging from the washing line – which is suspended over a sofa.

A 56-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of producing a controlled drug and is currently on police bail as part of an investigation.

Sergeant Simon Raithby-Allin, from West Midlands Police, said: “While the use of the washing line may seem basic the set-up itself was quite sophisticated.

“Electricity at the address has been bypassed and plants at different stages of growth were being prepared.

“The drugs seized will now be destroyed and the only way they will make the streets is by the photos we have released to encourage our communities to continue to report those people or addresses involved in criminal activity.”
