A female teacher has been questioned by police after a teenage girl claimed she was “grabbed inappropriately” in class.

The 16-year-old claims she was assaulted by a staff member at Sir John Gleed School in Spalding, Lincs., on Monday.

She alleged the teacher had pushed her as she tried to walk out the classroom after a row.

The girl’s furious mother, who asked not to be named, accused the school of trying to “brush it under the carpet” by blaming the incident on her daughter.

She said: “I got a text message from my daughter which said ‘I just got assaulted’.

“She said her friend next to her in class needed to go to the toilet because she felt sick.

“But when she asked to go, the teacher refused her leave and my daughter’s friend was sick on the table.

“My daughter walked out of the classroom because she couldn’t deal with it but as she was coming back in, the teacher pushed the door in her face.

“Then there was a scuffle when my daughter tried to get her bag and as she did, she said that the teacher pushed her.”

The mother said she was later told that the teacher had been ordered to “leave the premises straight away”.

A spokesman for headteacher Will Scott said: “There was an incident at the school on Monday that was swiftly dealt with in accordance with the school’s standard procedures.

“We have rigorous procedures in place to quickly and effectively resolve any issues that may arise and I am happy that we have taken all the necessary action required.”

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “An allegation of assault against a 16-year-old female pupil at Sir John Gleed School by a female member of staff was reported to police on Thursday afternoon.

“An officer attended the school to speak to staff and pupils to gather more information about the matter.

“It has been determined that no assault or criminal offences have taken place and there is no requirement for further police action.”
