Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service created the video as part of a campaign to encourage people to check their smoke alarms.

The 3.35-minute clip has attracted over 31,000 hits from viewers across the world.

It shows members of the fire service going about their daily work and lip sinking to a re-worded version of the Sugababes chart topper.

Lyrics include: ”If you want your family home for keeps you better push your button to check it bleeps.”

At another point they sing: ”There are many different ways you can test it, whether it’s a finger or the end of a broom.

”Perhaps on your landing or your hall way room.”

Scenes show firefighters on water rescue boats, up ladders and in gas tight suits all dancing and singing along.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are launching an app to accompany the video which will be launched on Thursday.

The app will give users a weekly reminder to check their smoke alarms.

Staffordshire’s Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford said: ”We’re continually trying new and innovative ways to get the message out there.

”But a lot of people still aren’t listening.

”Hopefully they will now after hearing this song and watching the video – you just can’t help but listen to the words and laugh at the video.”
