Five-year-old child genius passes maths GCSE

A child genius has become the youngest person to get a GCSE after passing her maths exam – aged FIVE YEARS OLD, it was claimed yesterday.

Whizz-kid Dee Alli picked up her C grade certificate for Mathematics from an inner city education charity for deprived talented youngsters in London.

She prepared for June’s GCSE exam by playing ‘beat the calculator’ with friends twice her age to sharpen up her mental arithmetic.

Dee, of south London, is preparing to enrol at primary school in September but is already believed to be the youngest person to pass a GCSE exam.

She said: ”I didn’t know I was taking the exam I thought it was a game. Maths is a big game with numbers and I find it fun.

”It wasn’t very difficult and I found it very easy because it was mostly questions about the difference between numbers.

”I’m very surprised to be the youngest ever. I’m very proud of myself but it was just a game for me.

”I spend a lot of time playing number games with friends older than me.

”I also enjoy singing with my brother and watching TV. When I’m older I would like to be a princess and be rich.

”Before the exam I played beat the calculator with my friend who is nine-years-old. We do the eleven times table and try to do it faster than the calculator.”

The youngster opened her certificate at Excellence in Education, in Southwark, South London, then celebrated with parents Joy and Rasheed Alli.

Excellence in Education is a charity which aims to help talented children in deprived communities and inner cities.

Spokesman Hannah Christian-Rivers said: ”We work with disadvantaged children and provide support for children from deprived backgrounds.

”We are very proud of Dee as she hasn’t even started primary school yet.”

An exam board spokesman for Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR) said: ”It is a wonderful achievement for this particular student and she must have worked incredibly hard.”

To Stephan Jones. Perhaps you should have learnt to read. Five year old "GENIUS"! If every five year old was getting a C then your point is valid. Until then you remain an ignorant man.
