A football nut loves his local club so much – he is moving into the stadium.

Spencer ‘Spenny’ Larham, 41, is known locally as Wisbech Town football club’s most dedicated supporter.

The devoted dad-of-two has attended more than 400 games, missed only one away game since 2005 and once saw 60 games in a single season.

Now the self-employed computer technician can watch home games from the comfort of his own bed after moving into the club’s Fenland Stadium.

His new one-bedroom flat runs alongside the touchline giving him unrivalled views of the matches and he can even overhear the pre-match team-talk from his bathroom.

Father-of-two Spenny, who is also the club’s website and programme editor, said he was making his ”second home” his home.

He said: ”I can see the pitch from my bedroom and my bathroom runs alongside the wall of the dressing rooms – I should be able to hear the pre-match team-talk.

”The football club has been my second home for years and now it’s going to be my actually home.

”I never miss a game but now I won’t have to worry about rushing back because I’ll already be at home!

”I think the club is glad I took the flat, who else is going to want to be so close to the pitch. During a busy game there may be up to 400 people outside my back window.

”I have supported the club since I moved to Wisbech around fifteen years ago. I like to support the town and the football club is a great ambassador for the town.

”I’m passionate about the town and the club. You get more out of supporting our local team than higher up the league.

”It’s great to see players later in the pub where fans can buy them a drink or have a moan. You can’t associate with the game in the same way higher up the league.

”At the moment I’m paying rent to a landlord I don’t know, at least this way the money is going to a good cause.”

Spenny moved to Wisbech, Cambs., in 1991 and went to his first Wisbech Town game in 1995 and has been hooked ever since.

Wisbech Town is a member of the Eastern Counties League Premier Division and reached the first round of the FA Cup in 1995-96.

This is Spenny’s eighth season as programme director and he created the club’s official website in 2005.

The newly-renovated one bedroom flat was once a security hut and is tagged alongside the clubhouse – just yards from the touchline.

He is currently renting a flat in the town center and will move into the clubhouse over the next fortnight.

Spenny, who is separated, said his daughter’s Erin, 13, and Kiera, 10, thought his new flat was ”fun”.
