Gattuso: Spurs fans want to give me a slap

AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso will not travel to London next week for his club’s Champions League clash against Tottenham Hotspur for fear of being “slapped”.

Gattuso - Spurs fans want to give me a slap

The Italian menace, 33, head-butted Spurs’ assistant manager Joe Jordan following Milan’s defeat in the San Siro last week.

Gattuso and Jordan had earlier been involved in a heated touchline exchange which resulted in the Italian pushing 59-year-old Jordan.

Tempers flared at the full-time as the two squared up with Gattuso head-butting notorious hardman Jordan.

The fracas then continued into the tunnel with Gattuso alleging that Spurs defender Sebastien Bassong taunted the pint-sized midfielder about his diminutive height.

World Cup winner Gattuso, who was suspended for four Champions League matches for his actions, has admitted to being advised against travelling to White Hart Lane for next week’s crunch match.

He told Le Iene television programme: “I have been told there will be 37,000 people there just waiting to give me a slap, so I will stay in Milan.

Gattuso also admitted the post-match brawl would have been considerably worse had teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic been in the vicinity.

“It was lucky he (Ibrahimovic) was not at my side when the confrontation with Jordan happened. If he had been, the fight would still be going on.”
