A bride’s wedding plans are in tatters after a court banned her fiance from contacting her following a bust-up on his stag night.
Fiona Soutter, 30, is due to walk down the aisle with sweetheart Billy Stupart, 28, in a fortnight.
But he got into a drunken row with her and his best man Christopher Strachan over a stag night visit to a strip club.
He ended up in court charged with assault and threatening behaviour and a judge banned him from contacting either of them until after the wedding date.
The not-so happy couple have since kissed and made up – but will have to cancel their big day unless the judge lifts Billy’s strict bail conditions.
Yesterday hairdresser Fiona said: ”We had hoped he might have shown us a bit of leniency.”
Billy, of Dundee, added: ”Everything has been booked and it’s cost us thousands. Many of our guests have made arrangements to get to the ceremony.
”I have never been in any trouble before and I think the sheriff is being very heavy-handed with us.
”We are appealing the bail conditions. If that doesn’t work everything will be cancelled.”
Former soldier Billy and his bride-to-be have invited 180 guests to their ceremony at Baxter Park Pavillion in Dundee and paid for a luxury honeymoon in Portugal.
But everything was thrown into disarray after the bride and groom enjoyed separate nights out last weekend.
They ended up back at the flat they share in Dundee with Christopher, 28, where Billy and the best man began arguing over the groom’s reluctance to visit a stripper.
Fiona called the police and her fiance was taken away to spend a weekend in the cells.
He was charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards her by shouting, swearing, threatening violence and throwing a bottle.
The former Black Watch soldier is also accused of assaulting her and throwing a bottle at her as well as assaulting Christopher by repeatedly punching him on the head.
Council waste management worker Stupart appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday where Sheriff Tom Hughes warned him to stay away from the two people he is accused of assaulting.
Fiona contacted the court to say she still wanted to get married, but the sheriff refused to listen. Billy has now moved in with a pal.
His next court date is May 4th, which is after the wedding.
Billy has since repaired his relationship with his best man. He added: “Chris is my best friend and will still definitely be my best man whatever happens.”
