A headless corpse discovered near a busy motorway was today identified as that of a missing 58-year-old woman.

The fully-clothed body was discovered by a dog walker in a field beside the M4 in Swindon, Wilts., on November 11.

The head was found nearby and it is thought the corpse had been lying in the field for several months.

Police yesterday revealed the dead woman was Judith Newman, 58, from Swindon, who had been reported missing in May this year.

Officers do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and suspect the head was removed by animals.
