If you are a British national in Japan affected by the tsunami and earthquake or you are worried about a relative, there are several numbers you can contact for help.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has set up a helpline for anyone affected by the disaster or worried about friends and relatives. the number is 020 7008 0000.

You can also call the British embassy in Tokyo on 81 3 5211 1100 and the Osaka Consualte on +81 6 6120 5600

The number for the main FCO switchboard is 020 7008 1500.

Google have also launched a version of their person finder tool, as they did in the Haiti and Christchurch earthquakes. You can access the application here.
