Jose Mourinho, bizarre interviews about Jaguars… and how he’s just become UK ambassador for the car firm
He’s well known for baffling interviewers with bizarre rants.
So when Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho likened Man City’s title chances to putting an ‘L plate behind a Jaguar’, it might have been written off as another rambling from the maverick manager.
But it seems the Portuguese boss may have had another reason – he’s just got hold of the UK’s first Jaguar F-Type Coupe.
Chelsea boss Mourinho, famous for his mind games, was asked about his side’s chances of winning the Premier League this season.
He responded by saying Man City were the favourites and referred to them as a Jaguar, before adding “you cannot put an L plate behind a Jaguar”.
Some likened his comments to those of Eric Cantona, who was well known for his abstract interviews.
But today it emerged The Special One had been named as the UK’s latest ambassador for Jaguar.
He will now get his hands on the first UK-registered F-Type Coupe, taking delivery of an £85,000 top-of-the-range R model next month.
Jaguar wouldn’t confirm if Mourinho would be getting the car for free, but said it was the Chelsea boss who approached them about becoming involved in the firm.
His new sports car will be capable of 0-62mph in just four seconds and a top speed of 186mph.
Jeremy Hicks, Jaguar Land Rover UK managing director, said: “With the F-Type Coupe, our designers and engineers have created the ultimate expression of Jaguar DNA; beautiful design combined with immense dynamic performance.
“I am sure all our customers will be as excited as our new ambassador Jos? Mourinho at the prospect of driving the new F-Type Coupe.”
The official UK launch of the stunning sports car takes place today at Canary Wharf.
