A British healthcare advertising agency has beaten some of the biggest names around the world to win a prestigious award at one of the industry’s most prestigious awards ceremonies.

Langland impressed medical high-flyers when it was shortlisted for 19 awards at Cannes Lions Health 2015 at the Palais des Festivals in France on June 19 and 20. It was the highest number of shortlists than any firm has ever received.

The company, based in Windsor, England, the scooped Agency of the Year, along with five Bronze Lion awards. They included two for a film for Otsuka’s ADPKD, two for ‘Sniffers’ for Randox, and one for the Jinarc mode of action film, which was also for Otsuka.

Langland Chief Executive Philip Chin said the stunning clutch of awards reinforces the company’s reputation as the world’s most creatively awarded healthcare advertising agency.

He added: ‘Both the quality and quantity of work has increased significantly since last year, so for us to be recognised as Agency of the Year again is very special indeed.

‘It’s no secret that great work takes an enormous amount of hard work, and I’d like to congratulate our clients, agency partners, and the whole Langland team for the effort they’ve put in to achieve this fantastic result.’

This year’s total of 1,862 entries represented a 30% increase over 2014’s inaugural show, with 432 coming in the Pharma category, and 1430 in Health and Wellness.

Philip said the same exacting standard of judging as last year’s competition meant that ‘coming away with anything was as tough as ever’.

Langland’s services included studies, advertising campaigns and marketing videos for some of the biggest names in health. Clients include AstraZeneca, Norgine and Synexus among others.

Speakers at the Cannes Lions 2015 awards included prominent industry figures such as Jane Lin-Baden, Masaya Shimizu, Debra Bass and Jose Miguel Sokoloff.
