Pop singer Lisa Stansfield was today slammed by a super fan after the star claimed the crowd at one of her 2003 gigs were like ZOMBIES.

In an interview last week, the 1990s songstress likened those at her Ipswich, Suffolk performance to “zombies” and suggested they were “bored”.

But Lynn Turner, 55, who was in the crowd, reckons Stansfield’s blast is off key – and described the show as a “great night”.

The concert, on April 1, 2003, was the only time Mrs Turner saw Rochdale-born Stansfield perform live – and she can still recall dancing with her friends and singing along.

Lynn said: “I remember it was quite nostalgic because me and my two friends were quite big fans of Lisa Stansfield.

“We had a great night, we were all singing along because we knew all the words.

“Maybe it was just us, but I thought the crowd were OK, I don’t think they were bad at all.

“We are a tough crowd but I thought it was a great night.”

Stansfield, 46, in an interview with the Metro to promote her forthcoming tour  last week claimed the Ipswich, Suffolk., audience seemed “bored.”

She said: ” The whole audience were like zombies.

“They didn’t move, didn’t do anything, then after the show people came backstage and said: ‘It’s the most beautiful show I’ve ever seen, I was so excited.’

“I was like ‘what are you like when you’re bored?’”

Nobody was available for comment from Stansfield’s management company.

It reminds of when I took a close friend to see Lisa at the famed Radio City Music Hall in New York. Though Lisa had the audience dancing in the aisles at her soldout, critically acclaimed date, my friend just stood their looking bored. Then after the show, he told me he thought she was great………go figure.

I have seen Lisa at Pigalle in Paris, Wembley and Radio City for a few examples and she never failed to give a great show! Not many new artists can release a concert video from their first tour and sell it briskly along with great reviews.
