A woman called out ‘he’s not dead’ from the dock yesterday as she appeared in court charged with murdering her husband two months after their wedding.

Sharon Edwards, 42, is accused of fatally stabbing solicitor David Edwards at their marital home shortly after they returned from a Las Vegas honeymoon.

The body of the 51 year-old was found dead from a single chest wound at the couple’s smart four-bedroom detached property in Chorley, Lancs., on Sunday night.

Edwards, in grey t-shirt and with dishevelled shoulder-length blonde hair, made a short five-minute appearance at Preston magistrates court flanked by two dock officers.

Asked whether she understood the charge against her she replied: “He’s not dead, yes I understand but he’s not dead”.

Mr Edwards had practised as a solicitor for 26 years and specialised in criminal defence.

The couple began seeing each other early last year and got engaged at Christmas.

They married in a registry office ceremony in June before jetting off to Las Vegas last month for a second ceremony and honeymoon.

Deputy District Judge Catherine McCormick remaned Edwards in custody and told her: “The charge that you face is one that I have to send to the crown court.

“You will appear there on August 28, this Friday. On that date your solicitor will make an application for bail to the crown court judge.”

As she was led away Edwards shook her head and blew kisses to family members in the public gallery.

My Auntie went to a brilliant Murder defence solicitors. The case was complex ad due to the nature of the case is was a very stressful time for our family. Qamar Solicitor was excellent in reassuring the family and making sure the process was as stress-free as it possibly could. All our faith was with the solicitor and we could not thank them enough when we won the case which was against my auntie. I would highly recommend anyone to use Qamar solicitors they are a service which goes beyond the limits of representation in a courtroom.
