Police launched an appeal to find thugs who beat two men with a pair of toy NUNCHUCKS from a Nintendo Wii console in an unprovoked attack.

A man sprayed an unknown substance in the faces of two men before battering them with the £14 wireless gaming remote which was handed to him by a female accomplice.

His victims fled the scene at Northampton racecourse between 12 and 1am on Saturday, suffering minor injuries but they did not require hospital treatment.

The male attacker is described as white, 6ft2in tall, in his mid to late 20s, of slim build with short dark hair and wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack.

The woman, of around the same age, was also white with dark hair and about 5ft5in tall.

Northamptonshire Police say the incident was unprovoked and the victims did not know the attackers.

A spokesman said: ”Two men were walking on the Racecourse when they were approached by a male and female.

”The male sprayed the two men in the face with an unknown substance.

”The female handed the male a pair of Wii Nunchucks, which he used to assault both men. Both men then ran away from the offenders.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 03000 111 222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
