The little girl, who was left unattended by her parents, was playing with her four-year-old sister when she somehow fell from the Paris apartment window.

Her first stroke of luck was landing on the awning of a café below, which helped break her fall.

Then by an amazing stroke of luck the child was caught – by a passing doctor. According to reports she appeared to have no serious injuries but was taken to a hospital to be kept under observation.

One bystander who saw the incident told the daily Le Parisien: “He must have played rugby for years to have developed reflexes like that.”

It’s unclear how the incident came to take place.

A police spokesperson said: “The parents were absent, and it’s a bit difficult questioning the two girls, given their age.”
