Traffic police in Dubai have taken delivery of their latest crime-fighting tool – a 200mph McLaren SUPERCAR.
Officers in the super-rich emirate are known for their unconventional patrol cars.
And its latest addition is the Woking-built McLaren MP4-12C – one of the fastest cars to ever lap the legendary Top Gear track.
It has a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre engine which develops a whopping 616bhp – almost six times the power of a typical British panda car.
The result is a police car which will accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.1 seconds and go all the way up to 205mph.
Dubai Police unveiled the McLaren this week, with the supercar given a full police livery along with flashing lights.
The McLaren, which costs around £175,000 before its police modifications, joins the force’s jaw-dropping fleet.
Other models used to combat crime include a Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari F12, Bentley Continental and Mercedes SLS Gullwing.
There is also an Aston Martin One-77 – a rare supercar which comes with a £1.6 million price-tag.
All of these cars capable of speeds in excess of 190mph and the officers, who undergo special driver training, also have access to a Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Charger.
