Police were called out to search for a seven-foot PYTHON that disappeared from its tank at home.

The panicking owner dialled 999 when the five year-old reptile went missing in Kingsnorth, Kent on Monday evening.

He spent 24 hours hunting for the snake before raising the alarm and two officers were sent to the house.

The hunt was called off when the snake was found around the back of the fridge.

The female coastal carpet python – who is yet to reach full size – managed to pry off the air vent on her tank before slipping to freedom.

The snakes, native to Australia, can reach 13ft in length and weigh up to 15kg (33lb) and live on small mammals, bats, birds and lizards.
