This is the hilarious moment Countdown brainbox Rachel Riley was forced to spell out the word BUMHOLE.
Linguistics boffin Susie Dent was embarrassed to admit to host Nick Hewer she was able to beat the previous five-letter offering of ‘bulge’.
The audience was in fits of giggles when Rachel was forced to spell out the rude word, which would have scored seven points, on Monday’s show.
It was discovered by Susie who was accompanied on Dictionary Corner by Janet Street-Porter, who refused to spell out the word to host Nick and said: “I can’t say it.”
So Susie had to admit: “Ok, lets get it over quickly. Bumhole is there.”
Nick raises an eyebrow and asked: “Bumhole? It’s going to be one of those days is it?”
Viewers took to Twitter to express their shock.
Callum Chetwynd said: “Why has the word ‘bumhole’ just been used on Countdown. And who knew it was one word!”
Ben Walton wrote: “This actually happened on Countdown today…the real one, not the @jimmycarr one! #bumhole #immature.”
Brett Harris said: “Bumhole just came up on countdown. So did Janet Street Porter. Today is a good day.”
The funny word was revealed in the second to last letters round on Channel 4 programme.
