Rural village gets Internet speed boost thanks for Comstel Connect

Residents in a remote rural village still have had their internet speeds boosted thanks to a new lightning fast connection thanks to a leading service provider.

Internet users in Tur Langton, Leicestershire, had been plagued by sluggish browsing speeds slower than when the net was first introduced in the 1990s.

But Comstel Connect, which specialises in working with remote communities, has installed its ccAir broadband which can deliver top speeds of up to 200mbps symmetrical (up &down), well in excess of what’s attainable on conventional ADSL and FTTC broadband connections.

Tur Langton, Leicestershire is the first community to benefit from ccAir with speeds almost 50 times the speed of what they have been receiving to date.

While the UK Government’s BDUK (Broadband Delivery for the UK) programme is committed to bringing superfast broadband to 95 per cent of properties by 2017, those in the five per cent who tend to live and work in remote, rural locations, stand to miss out on the superfast revolution.

Further ccAir rollouts across other parts of the East Midlands, some connected by Air and some by FTTP (Fibre to the Premise), will become live this year.

These locations are typically getting around 2-5mbps downstream and now can get up to 200mbps.
