Scrounging couple given four bedroom council house for their SIX KIDS caught bragging about ‘working the system’

A jobless couple given a four bedroom council house after ‘accidentally having six children in a one-bed flat have been caught boasting about ‘working the system’.

Gavin and “super-fertile” Maggie Flisher claim they had so many children in their cramped home because they were failed FIVE times by contraception.

The couple, who claim nearly £30,000 a year in benefits, have now moved into a £150,000 family home in Maidstone, Kent – for FREE.

They have four bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open plan kitchen-diner and separate lounge.

And the grasping pair – who have not worked since 2005 – have been bragging about their skill at taking “advantage” of government handouts.

A Facebook support page appears to have been set up by Maggie, 26, boasting about her scrounging lifestyle.

One post said: “Can people please stop sending so much hate towards this family, we wouldnt DARE wish it on neof [sic] yous.. full time mummys united!, just becuase everyones jel of our way of working this system (WHICH IS PERFECTLY LEGAL) RANT OVER”

Another post says: “why not get onto the gov for a bigger house… thats what there their for.”

Maggie added: “I see alot of shithouses here complaning about the way i am using the system for the benifit of my family / personal life, this isnt my fault, YOUR GOVERMENT who you all seem to love so much has no problem with me taking such advantage of the system.”

The mother-of-six claimed she had not been writing on the page and the posts were the work of an imposter.

Local working families however told of their anger that the Flishers have been given so much.

Edna Harris, 80, is still working part-time as a cleaner because she missed work when she retired as a dinner lady.

The grandmother-of-four said: “I think it is terrible. What kind of example do the parents set for their children?

“If they are going to claim benefits then I would have them clean the streets or something rather than doing nothing.

“Some blame must go to the government.

“But what chance do the kids stand with parents like that. It’s disgusting.”

Maggie and Gavin, 31, moved into the housing association property in Maidstone, Kent, after successfully bidding for it against 12 other families.

It is owned by Golding Homes and managed by Kent Homechoice housing association, was listed with a week price-tag of #150.

The Flishers qualify for full housing benefit, which means they pay nothing.

It falls into the catchment area of sought-after Maidstone Grammar School, and is within ten minutes walk of the town centre.

Maggie, who claims she can’t work because of her depression, said: “We’re very pleased to be in.

“I had to pay for the move myself, so it took us three weeks.”

Before the move the Flishers lived in a one bedroom flat.

Three eldest children Lacieann, eight, Elektra, six, and Gavin Jnr, five, shared the only bedroom.

Maggie and her two-year-old daughter Lilyrose slept on a sofa bed in the lounge alongside three-month-old twins Jamesmartin and Paris Nicola, who lie in Moses baskets.

Gavin bedded down anywhere he could “find”.

Maggie denied they had been irresponsible by having so many children.

Instead the mum claimed contraception, including the pill, condoms, arm implants and an injection had all failed.

Maggie said she had begged her GP for sterilisation, but was turned down.

The Flisher family’s new three-storey terraced home is situated in the Tovil suburb of Maidstone and is walking distance from the Kent town centre.

Other four bedroom properties on the street follow the same layout with some rooms measuring 12ft x 12ft.

They boast two double rooms, two single rooms, off-street parking and a back garden.

Matthew Sinclair, Chief Executive of the TaxPayers’ Alliance said: “Taxpayers will be appalled to hear of anyone taking advantage of the Welfare System.

“The benefits system is there as a safety net to help those who need support, not subsidise a lifestyle that many taxpayers footing the bills cannot afford for themselves.

“The Government must do more to stop this system being exploited as taxpayers can no longer afford to fork out so much on our hefty welfare bill.”

A Maidstone Borough Council spokesman yesterday said: “We maintain a housing register for homes offered by Kent Homechoice.

“People can apply. They bid for a house and some are successful. All our social housing is in short supply and there is only a small number of four-bedroom houses.”

In July, the family told how they received an annual total of £22,900 in benefits, including £540 a month in jobseekers allowance; child benefit of £85 every week; and child tax credit of £1,000 a month.

The rent on their new property is nearly £8,000 a year, which means the total benefits handed to the family now top £30,000.

Suggesting the apparent haters are just “jel” is VERY stereotypical. How can she even be sure that none of her haters earn more from working? Seeing as she stats she`s spending money others can`t. I am very sure there are people who could easily waste a couple grand but just simply hate her attitude.
