Sensely has been shortlisted for a prestigious award celebrating the best of innovation in healthcare around the region.

Sensely has been given the nod in the Industry Collaboration Award category of the West Midlands Academic Health Science Network (WMAHSN)’s second annual Celebration of Innovation awards.

More than 250 people from across the West Midlands’ NHS, industry, academia, third sector and patient population will gather at the Hilton Metropole at Birmingham’s NEC on 20 July to see if Sensely will be successful in lifting the prize.

The awards were established to recognise and celebrate the work of individuals and organisations in developing better healthcare and increasing wealth for local people, and the ceremony will provide an opportunity to celebrate achievements from across the West Midlands.

More than 100 entries were submitted across the 12 categories, which will now be assessed by a panel of experts to choose the eventual winner.

Ask NHS, powered by Sensely, is a mobile app that provides full technical integration with the West Midlands NHS111 Clinical Assessment Service, the NHS National Directory of Services (DoS), EMIS Web and NHS Choices.

The app currently provides a fast and convenient digital access point to the NHS, giving patients in the West Midlands on-demand access 24/7.

Dr Christopher Parker, Managing Director of the WMAHSN, said: “We are delighted that
Sensely has been shortlisted for the Industry Collaboration Award.

“More than 100 entries were submitted and while it was a very tough decision to shortlist entries in the light of such a strong field, the other judges and I were in agreement that Sensely’s entry showed an astonishing breadth of scope and an approach that is truly innovative, transforming patient care, providing solutions to significant challenges and breaking down barriers across our region. It was truly inspiring to be involved with judging the awards, and I am looking forward to seeing the eventual winners announced at the Celebration of Innovation Event with enthusiasm.”

Dr. Ivana Schnur, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Sensely, said: “Sensely is deeply honoured to have been selected by the WMAHSN and shortlisted for the Industry Collaboration Award. At Sensely, we pride ourselves in our collaborative relationship with the NHS and industry partners, the result being the Ask NHS mobile app. We believe the app to be ground-breaking in that it supports the NHS and enhances the patient experiences in the West Midlands by enabling access to appropriate and quality healthcare.”
