This is the shocking moment two thugs burst into a mobile phone store before swinging an AXE at a shopkeeper during a terrifying robbery.

The hooded raiders can be seen calmly strolling into the shop before one of them marches towards the counter wielding the bladed weapon.

Terrifying CCTV shows one robber swinging the axe at a member of staff who is forced to dive for cover to avoid being slashed.

His accomplice then jumps over another counter at the back of the store and stuffs 20 mobile phones and cash into a black JD sports bag.

Footage taken from outside the entrance shows the two men sprinting off up a nearby street – just 30 seconds after they stormed into the shop.

Police are now appealing for help tracking down the suspects who carried out the robbery at the Mobile Galore store in New Basford, Nottingham, at around 2pm on July 8.

Detective Constable Christophe (corr) Sutton, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The robbers turned to violence quickly having entered the shop armed with an axe.

“The shopkeeper, understandably, feared for his life during this ordeal.

“It is vital we are able to identify these men and get them off the streets as soon as possible.

“We think there is someone out there who will see this footage and recognise one or both of the suspects.

“We need to hear from them as soon as possible.”

Police released the shocking CCTV yesterday (Wed) and said the shopkeeper didn’t suffer any serious injuries in the ordeal.

The axe-wielding robber is wearing a dark hooded jacket with burgundy shoulders whilst his partner is wearing a bright blue hooded jacket.
