The broadcaster has reached the deal with Cowell’s company, Syco, and The X Factor and Brtiain’s Got Talent co-producer Fremantle Media – with the 51-year-old music mogul netting a cool £20 million over the next three years.

Cowell, 51, is unlikely to appear in the early stages of Britain’s Got Talent but is expected to judge the contestants when the show reaches the semi-final stage.

The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent are two of TV’s biggest show, regularly drawing in excess of ten million viewers and making global stars of Leona Lewis and Susan Boyle as well as lifting Cheryl Cole into the upper echelons of celebrity stardom.

It’s also made mega-rich Cowell, 51, one of television’s hottest properties.

Cowell said: “I am thrilled this deal has been concluded with ITV to enable our relationship to continue to develop.

“I am committed to making sure both shows get bigger and better every year.”

The bumper deal also gives ITV exclusive rights to air American Idol and America’s Got Talent.

ITV boss Peter Fincham added: “The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent have helped define the last decade of television in the UK.

“They have become more than just a talking point – they are a national obsession. I’m delighted our viewers can continue to enjoy them on ITV over the next three years.”
