A long-haired Brazilian monkey called Wagner who is known for his off-key singing has become an overnight sensation after his namesake appeared on X Factor.

Visitors have flocked to Shaldon Wildlife Trust in Teignmouth, Devon, to catch a glimpse of the singing golden-headed lion Tamarin.

Like the talent show hopeful, the eight-year-old monkey is a native of Brazil and also sings out of tune.

The Tamarin doppelganger was introduced to the zoo four years ago from Antwerp, Belgium, and was already named Wagner when he arrived.

It was only as the oddball reality contestant progressed through this year’s X Factor that keeper Tracey Moore spotted the similarity.

”He gives off a loud wail at the top his voice, which really doesn’t sound very pleasant,” she said.

”Each animal has a card describing them and where they are from and visitors started to make the connection.

”All the staff watch the show and supported Wagner Carrillho and it has definitely been a talking point.

”Unfortunately, the similarities don’t end with their appearance as they both seem to share a similar squeal.”

this is the most demeaning comparism to be made about someone!!! why all these comments about someone, who was determine to better his life by contesting on X factor? it’s not as if Wagner rocks my boat but common, this guy is human like any of us irrespective of his race or colour. He deserves some respect. comparing him to an ape is far too demeaning!!!!
