This is the terrifying moment a group of adrenaline junkies suspended themselves from a bridge 500ft above the ground – in a JACUZZI.

The 25 daredevils spent six hours assembling the makeshift hot-tub and hanging it from the New Gueuroz Bridge in Switzerland.

They then abseiled onto the platform for a relaxing bath, enjoying champagne and cake while overlooking the stunning surroundings of the Trient Gorge.

The stunt was organised by Swiss hot-tub fanatics ‘jacuzzi.ch’, a group of five men who spend the spare time staging ‘extreme jacuzzi’ events.

They estimate it took around 2,500 hours of planning for Saturday’s daring mission – all for just two-and-a-half hours in the jacuzzi.

Water was heated in a second jacuzzi on the bridge and the lowered onto the platform where it was kept warm by a gas-powered system.

The group were suspended around 130ft from the top of the 620ft high bridge – with only cables and ropes preventing them from certain death.

Group spokesperson Pierre Cauderay, 35, said: ”It was great, everything went perfectly – it almost felt too easy. We didn’t even test the plan out before.

”Everything was suspended from the bridge using ropes and steel cables and the 25 of us were safely secured.

”It was an amazing party, we celebrated two friends’ birthdays and enjoyed cake and a bottle of champagne while having a sing-song in the jacuzzi.”

The group, from Lausanne, Switzerland, has been organising extreme jacuzzis for ten years and have scaled 15,000ft summits in the Alps and Andes – all for their love of hot-tubs.

In 2007 they reached the summit of Europe’s biggest mountain, Mont Blanc, reaching the 15,000 peak while carrying boxes, pipes, gas canisters and alcohol without the use of helicopters or outside support.

They then stripped down to their shorts and melted the snow before enjoying the world’s highest jacuzzi.

But the group say this was the most daring effort so far, taking more than nine months of meticulous planning.

Pierre, an experienced mountaineer who works as an architect, added: ”This was the most impressive jacuzzi we’ve had so far and was certainly the most technically difficult.

”We first thought about a jacuzzi suspended from a bridge about two years ago and thought about how much of an amazing experience it would be.

”In January we started planning the event and, because of the nature of the task, it required lots of planning!

”After coming up with the design we discussed it with engineering experts to make sure it was safe.

”It must have taken around 2,500 hours to plan for just 2.5 hours in the jacuzzi but it was definitely worth it.”

It would suck if a helicopter flew underneath the bridge as they were enjoying themselves.

Hrm. What will I do today? I think I’ll suspend myself off a bridge and take a dunk in a hot tub, also suspended precariously on some plywood.
Good lord, no.  *kisses the ground*
