A sea life centre was forced to cover up a topless mermaid today – after young lads were caught ‘ogling’ her ample treasure chest.
Marine staff at Chessington World Of Adventures, Greater London, took action following reports of visitors getting steamed-up by stone statue Sally in their underwater tunnel.
A diver was sent into the tank to fit Sally with a bikini to protect her modesty and the leering male attention.
Chessington’s zoo experience manager Justine Locker said: ”It’s a bit of a boob on our part, really.
”We hadn’t noticed quite how buxom Sally was until we clocked young boys, and not so young boys, spending a lot of time ogling her in the walk-through ocean tunnel.
”Since none of us can avoid what is starring us straight in the face. It’s time for a cover-up.
”After all, it’s summer, the perfect time to be sporting a designer bikini.”
Chessington World Of Adventures boasts ‘Britain’s wildest adventure’, with rides, animals and its sea life centre – featuring sharks, fish and other marine life.
