Football-mad bar staff in one pub have all changed their names by deed poll – to WAYNE ROONEY.

All 16 workers at the boozer, which includes four barmaids, now legally share the same name as England’s pint-sized striker.

Landlord Steve Dukes, 48, has also joined in – by changing his name to manager Fabio Capello.

The wacky staff at the Bell Inn in Coleshill, Birmingham, came up with the idea during an after-work drink.

They successfully applied to the UK Deed Poll Office to have their names changed for the duration of the World Cup finals.

Fabio Capello, formerly Steve Dukes, said: ”This is all very legal, all the staff signed it.

”Everyone puts posters on the wall and flags to support the team but we thought ‘Why don’t we all become Wayne Rooneys’?

”Some of our staff came up with the idea and we thought it would be fantastic.

”We’re an old-fashioned pub where people can come and enjoy the game and Rooney’s name embodies the spirit of the England side.

”We wanted to do this to get behind the team.

”It might be a be a little bit confusing to start with, but we have a lot of regulars here so we hope everyone will join in.

”My daughters think it’s funny and my girlfriend said that nothing surprises her about me anymore.”

Bar staff will now wear T-Shirts with the slogan ‘Call me Rooney’ to remind locals of their name change.

The Wayne Rooney’s will revert to their original names after the World Cup Final on July 11.
